Verses 4-5: [4] Keep me, O LORD, from the hands of the wicked; preserve me from the violent man; who have purposed to overthrow my goings. [5] The proud have hid a snare for me, and cords; they have spread a net by the wayside; they have set gins for me. Selah.
Whatever David was dealing with at this time, he realized that he could not win in this situation without God's help. He was wise enough to know that a trap was being set for him. David needed God's wisdom in order to avoid falling into that trap.
Violent men were making false accusations and trying to trap David, therefore there were times when David had to literally run for his life.
We too may find ourselves trapped in some situation, but thankfully we have the greatest resource in the world to draw upon to help us with any situation regardless of difficulty.
To say it another way, we may not be able to handle the situation we are in, even if we allowed ourselves to get in that situation. However, there is a God who knows all things and even knows that we allowed ourselves to get in this "snare" (trap) and it is never too late or too early to call upon God to help us with our situation.
This comes back to my theme of knowing God and knowing that God knows us. If we can pause from our problems long enough to realize this truth, then we can pray to Him to help us through our own problems and allow Him to guide us through our situations. He really does care about us,
