Consider the following illustration: If one travels north or south, one eventually comes to the north or south pole and then one has to travel in the opposite direction. If one travels east or west, one can travel forever in those directions. The point is that the love that God has for us goes on forever just as traveling east or west can in theory go on forever.
This means we don’t have to worry about sins we have committed last week, year or say, century. If we have turned from them, even if we mess up again, we can have confidence we are forgiven of those sins.
Once the Lord forgives sin it no longer exists (Isaiah 43:25), and the sinner is delivered from the pit of corruption (Isaiah 38:17). We can be grateful because God doesn’t “hold grudges" against us. Just as there is no limit in distance from east to west, so there is no limit in how far away God has removed the memory of our sins from our lives.
